Health testing is one of the most important parts of responsible breeding. Our parent dogs are evaluated through OFA for hips and elbows to help prevent inherited joint problems. They receive annual eye exams by a veterinary ophthalmologist to monitor for genetic eye conditions. We also use advanced DNA testing panels to screen for breed-specific diseases. These steps allow us to make informed breeding decisions that prioritize the long-term health and well-being of every puppy we raise.

In the first weeks of life, we implement Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) and Early Scent Introduction to support neurological development and stress tolerance. As mobility increases, puppies experience structured exposure to new surfaces, safe obstacles, novel objects, gentle startle recovery exercises, and problem-solving tasks designed to encourage curiosity and resilience. We incorporate early crate introduction, grooming desensitization, and positive human interaction to build adaptability and emotional stability. This intentional, progressive approach helps develop well-balanced puppies who are prepared for the sights, sounds, and routines of family life.

We are Suzan & Kenny Franklin — life-long dog lovers who transformed that love into a thoughtful breeding program rooted in science, compassion, and education.

Our journey began simply: we wanted a loyal, intelligent, allergy-tolerant dog for our home. As we learned more about the breed and its possibilities, we realized we could contribute something meaningful — a breeding program that combined legacy, health, and predictability for families nationwide.

Bringing Your Forever Friend Home: Our Adoption Process

We understand that adopting a puppy is a significant decision, and we are here to guide you every step of the way. Our adoption process is designed to ensure that each of our precious puppies finds the perfect forever family.  We serve families in Indianapolis,  Indiana, the midwest, and all over the United States.

1. Get to Know Us: Explore our website, read about our philosophy, and get a feel for the Forever Friends difference.

2. Interview & Deposit: Once your application is reviewed and approved, we’ll schedule a chat to get to know you better. A non-refundable deposit will then reserve your place on our waiting list.

3. Puppy Selection: When a litter is born, we’ll keep you updated with photos and videos. Around 6-7 weeks of age, based on your preferences and the puppies’ developing personalities, we will assist you in selecting your new family member. We carefully match puppies to families, considering temperament, energy levels, and lifestyle.

4. Preparation & Pick-Up: We’ll provide you with a comprehensive puppy packet, including feeding guidelines, training tips, and everything you need to prepare for your puppy’s arrival. Pick-up day is a joyous occasion, typically around 8 weeks of age, once they are fully weaned and vet-checked.
